Real Yoga is Naked Yoga

Real yoga is practiced nude by authentic yogis in India. One of the reasons I delayed joining Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan is because I practice naked yoga and they work out completely dressed from head to toe in white yoga clothing.  I like the freedom of being without cloaking.

I have been an authentic nudist my whole life because it makes me whole. It is purely for health and well being, not overtly sexual. It has of course tremendously influenced my liberated sexuality. But most importantly I am being who I truly am. A pure yogi. Clean. No additives. No reliance on fashion or make-up. Naked yoga, naked lunch, naked consciousness.

Special Clothing Comes From Melrose Avenue Bookstores

You’ve seen documentary footage of yogis, swamis and sadhus in India. Those guys all run around naked, praying, meditating and doing yoga in the Ganges River. Indian yogis are always naked because they are always practicing yoga in and around the water. Yogi Bhajan added special religious garments to kundalini yoga totally on his own. White clothing for kundalini yogis was invented in a bookstore on Melrose Avenue.

Now:white Kundalini

I remember seeing kundalini yogi’s on Melrose Avenue when I was a twenty-three year-old film production assistant driving around Hollywood in my 1964 Plymouth Valiant. I erroneously assumed they were dressed from head to toe in white because they didn’t want to get skin cancer from  exposure to the sun. I may have actually seen a young Guru Singh in those days.

From November 2015 to October 2017, I had a great rental property where I practiced solo outdoor naked kundalini yoga. Now that I know a little bit more about kundalini yoga, I would like to find another place to practice outdoor naked kundalini tantra again.

WIKIPEDIA:

Yoga has been practiced naked since ancient times. In the Bhagavata Purana it says:
”A person in the renounced order of life may try to avoid even a dress to cover himself. If he wears anything at all, it should be only a loincloth, and when there is no necessity, a sannyāsī should not even accept a daṇḍa. A sannyāsī should avoid carrying anything but a daṇḍa and kamaṇḍalu.” [1]

Yogi Bhajan did a lot for Kundalini Tantra.  Maybe I can do a little more with this blog in the coming days.
