JR Roberts: This is Not Frank Sinatra’s Palm Springs
Desert politicians act like they’re still stealing candy from Indians. The local district attorney’s call PS politicians brazen criminals and they are right. Gay criminals have cast a pall of uncertainty over the desert.
Palm Springs City Councilman and carpetbagging hypocrite JR Roberts brags about getting rich renting out his properties as vacation homes and now he wants to prevent millennials and hipsters from doing the same thing. The Palm Springs business model is to get elected to public office to make deals favoring your private profit. Restaurateurs and hoteliers, from Sonny Bono to JR Roberts, the beat goes on.
But the size of their lot will not allow Thirteen Palms to comply with other guidelines for licensed hotels. “There is no precedent for this,” Mr. Ross said, “and no one can tell us what is going on or what the city would like us to do. So I am just going to back to running my business. When I get a notice in the mail that something has to change, we’ll address it.”
JR Roberts Fake News Agency
Real estate developers like JR Roberts and John Wessman like to brag about how much money they make either keeping land vacant or renting it out to tourists. The desert used to be a good deal thirty years ago. The gays and Canadians have pumped up the Palm Springs real estate bubble so much that soon the desert will be as expensive as Los Angeles. PS already has the lame LA vibe. Same people, same crime, same belief systems. Same music, the beat goes on.
The Beat Goes On
When I was a kid, PS was just a rest stop to the real desert. I would sue my parents if they made me grow up and go to school in Palm Springs. The nicest parts of the desert have bodies of water for leisure and recreational pursuits. PS is just a cheap watering hole with huge lots. The desert is about having a residence with a boat that is a destination. The desert is where people have second homes. Frank Sinatra had an architectural home and I had a houseboat. Everything in between is just a smooth talking gay real estate salesman like Steve Pougnet or JR Roberts. The beat goes on.
