All my life I have been a joiner. I’ll join anything that has to do with higher consciousness. Freemasonry, Rosicrucianism, Kundalini Yoga, The Doors of Perception.
All my life I have also been a reader. Reading is a nice, safe manner in which to educate yourself while sheltering out the pandemic during lockdown. Reading is a nice way to stay at home and elevate your consciousness. YouTube is also an excellent way to find enlightenment. I even have a YouTube Premium account because I am a joiner like that.
Rock legend Jim Morrison was a big influence on my life because of his music and also his literary interests. Jim named his band The Doors after a concept he was influenced by in the works of Aldous Huxley and William Blake: “If the doors of perception were cleansed every thing would appear to man as it is, Infinite.”
William Blake and the Doors of Perception
“William Blake (Born in London, 28 November 1757 – 12 August 1827) who inspired the title and writing style of The Doors of Perception by Aldous Huxley, was an influential English artist most notable for his paintings and poetry. The Doors of Perception was originally a metaphor written by Blake, used in his 1790 book, The Marriage of Heaven and Hell. The metaphor was used to represent Blake’s feelings about mankind’s limited perception of the reality around them; “If the doors of perception were cleansed every thing would appear to man as it is, Infinite. For man has closed himself up, till he sees all things thro’ narrow chinks of his cavern.””
A necessary component of human enlightenment is to clear the neural pathways from memory blockages that prevent us from experiencing clear perception. Currently I am cleansing my doors of perception with Eye Movement Desensitizing Reprogramming. My EMDR practitioner is helping me to clear my neural pathways of old memories that are blocking me from thinking and experiencing in the enlightened manner I desire.
Most religions and human potential programs offer some form of practice to clear the neural pathways and I have sampled many of them. Even cults use forms of this. The NIXVM sex cult synthesized this concept into a gambit Keith Raniere called “recognizing your disintegrations, and then coming into unity”.
Once I took a $35 Scientology home study course and learned all about clearing my engrams. It was well worth the money, however that was the last money I ever spent on Scientology. I used library books to learn more and even purchased a few excellent used Scientology books at my local library’s used book sales bin.
Scientology teaches that engrams are blockages of the neural pathways that clog up the windows of perception. You can pay thousands of dollars to learn this in seminars or you can read a few books.
Who has the best retirement benefits?
My life has been a journey of joining consciousness raising groups, religions, therapeutic modalities and assorted organizations thereof.
Here are all of my higher affiliations that I can remember, someday I will write out a list of my lower companions and their private clubs. For now, here is the top of the pops: Gestalt Encounter Group as 17 year-old freshman at CSUN, Six out of Seven Catholic Sacraments, Two Semesters of Protestant Seminary School, Woodcraft Rangers, Buddhism, Hinduism, Yoga, Meditation, Freemasonry, Rosicrucian Correspondence Course, Religious Science Home Study Course, Agape Culver City, CA, Sterling Men’s Weekend, Core Energetics, Mysticism, Existentialism, Primetime AA, Scientology Introductory Home Correspondence Course, Sexology with Dr. Paul Allen, David Deida style encounter group given by Deida’s teaching assistant Eli Braun, where I met Urban Shaman Don Miguel Filipowich and EMDR. Now I have even joined The Red Hat Lodge Room, mainly because of the excellent retirement benefits that they offer.
