Original Gangsters

Indians were here first, therefore they are the original gangsters. Hipster neo-gangsters now cruise the empty starlit sky in Range Rovers grazing shiny casino biscuits from Indian mobsters. Walking the wide dark sidewalks of the huge empty desert boulevards at 8:00 p.m. while everyone else looks for a slot machine to park their $80,000 automobile in. There will be people I know inside those houses of gambling, prostitution and drugs. I have the whole desert night to myself and so I just keep on walking past the stoic cigar store Indians and hipsters who worship them.

Indian Gangsters

I know where the Indian gangsters keep hidden trails in Palm Springs. These are actually public trails that are there for everyone to use. The developer gangsters made deals with the Palm Springs City Council to put $4 million homes in a nature preserve in the middle of the trails. This is all public knowledge but the developers keep it secret from the people. Currently the trail heads have signs saying that the trails are “temporarily” closed. I just walk right past the signs swinging my big black flashlight.

Usually I only hike up here in the daytime but now that it is warmer I have been coming up at night. The desert is about bringing your own light to the wilderness. Lately I have been meditating at night. I’m jaded on the Palm Springs nightlife and rainbow flag social scene. That’s why I’m writing so many of these blogs lately. Writing blogs is much more gratifying than going out in Palm Springs these days. I feel like a sucker spending my retirement portfolio on Palm Canyon. PS feels like suck a tourist trap these days. I think off all the PS mayors and city councilmen getting rich off PS real estate and businesses that I have just had enough.

Frankie and the Gangsters

Palm Springs has always been about gangsters. Frank Sinatra was a great Palm Springs promoter whose name is still invoked by real estate developer JR Roberts when selling Palm Springs to hipsters. Palm Springs is a great place to be if you are a young gangster looking to make your start in the world.
