“Para” Means “Next To”

The word “para” is a Greek prefix which is translated as “next to” or “along side.” Therefore a paramedic is a technician who is next to or along side the medical doctor by way of radio or other communications. Likewise a paralegal is a technician who is next to or along side the attorney in the law firm by way of email, telephone, or face to face communications. The paralegal is next to the attorney either in physical reality or virtual digital communications

Paralegals were invented by civil rights lawyers to get more mileage out of their legal manpower dollars. Instead of hiring ten attorneys to go through document depositories, the early employers of paralegals could hire twenty litigation paralegals and send them all over the United States to create valuable billable paralegal work product. We live in a knowledge based information society and paralegals are at the top of the pyramid in the modern information demographic. Paralegals deal in information and business is very good. I always knew this day would come when just writing this article about this legal information becomes a part of my entire marketing and legal services. I have learned new legal practices and procedures by first writing these articles on the subject of wage garnishment, qualified domestic relations orders and divorce and family law. I did not do any of those in other jobs, I learned them all right here working as a contract litigation paralegal service in Los Angeles. I am forever on the earn while you learn program.
