Lotus Meditation Practice
This morning I got into my full lotus meditation practice asana for the first time in three or four years. One afternoon five years ago I was sitting meditating in full lotus position at the Spectrum Athletic Club at the Howard Hughes Promenade in Culver City. Yoga teacher Josie Kramer looked at me and said: “I know people who have been practicing yoga for twenty years who cannot sit in full lotus position.”
Sitting in full lotus position I meditate up my chakras as the kundalini gurus taught me. You are exactly like whoever you are hanging out with right now in the physical, mental or spiritual world. So be careful for what you pray for . . .
Be Careful Hanging Out With Kundalini Yoga Teachers
The voices of yoga teachers are the beautiful instructions I have to guide me in my daily yoga and meditation practice. You get what you pay for and so it is important to take yoga classes with really good yoga teachers so that you can develop your own authentic hatha yoga practice at home.
If you want to have a real yoga practice, if you want to have a full lotus meditation practice, you have to work for it by learning from really good yoga teachers. You have to practice yoga in your home. You have to get to where you just like to hang out in down dog and lotus meditation practice.
So be careful who you hang out with because that is who you are. If you hang out with yoga teachers and people who meditate a lot then you are going to end up like that. What does your soul look like?
You do not become like the people you spend the most time with you are people you are with. The people you associate with are the same as the person you see in the mirror we call reality. I create my reality every morning before I wake up. My current and eternal identity is that of the Body and Consciousness of Christ. Joel S. Goldsmith meets the Eucharist. This is just for me and probably not for you.
Over the weekend I watched documentaries on Michael Jackson and Greg Louganis on HBO. Jackson and Louganis did the hard work to take it as far as they did. They both had God given talent but they had to work hard to make it to the top like they both did. Michael and Greg looked a little lonely. The purpose of this blog is to encourage Greg Louganis to try the lotus position. Try some yoga breathing. I’ve got a friend in Lotus . . .
My Friend Lotus
I don’t have rock star natural talent so I set my intention to work hard for everything to get there. I am grateful for what I have and I am especially grateful for my spiritual practice. I am grateful that I have spiritual experience I can create immediately in my here and now with this present mind this present moment: I have my lotus meditation practice.
I am grateful that I have done the meditation work that has given me peace of mind. I have forgotten that I used to be riddled with emotional anxiety. I have learned how to heal my heart and my emotions by meditating while practicing yoga. Real yoga is a mediation. Real yoga is breathing meditation. I am in cosmic bliss on this Monday morning waking up and returning to my full lotus meditation practice that was there waiting for me. What a good friend God is!
